Back to back games are rough on the players, especially when there's substantial travel involved. No, the flight from St. Louis to Denver isn't the longest one, but hopefully it's just long enough to sit and think about the Blues' late third period defensive lapses and why it's not the best idea to retaliate against Patrick Sharp with a high stick to his face.
Still, this is hockey, not a beauty pageant. No one's judging teams by irrationally high standards of beauty here in the NHL. They judge them on if they win or not - and even with their myriad injury depletion, the Blues are off to a 5-2-0 start in their first seven games. They also made Patrick Kane cry. You can't complain too much.
Tonight they're facing off against the surprisingly strong-starting Colorado Avalanche. The Avs are still shopping Matt Duchene around, but despite this they're third in the Central with a 4-3-0 record. Don't plan the parade or anything, Denver, but it's also a better start than many pegged the franchise for. The Avs last played Tuesday night, losing 4-1 to the Nashville Predators.
If the Blues can take out the Hawks, surely they can beat the Avalanche. Right?
This is your gameday thread. Comment like you still hate Stan Kroenke.
Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
