Jaden Schwartz placed on IR

He’ll be re-evaluated in six weeks.

This is the season for giving, and Mike Green gave Blues’ opponents a gift yesterday. Injured after blocking a Green shot late in the first period, Jaden Schwartz left the Blues’ 6-1 win over the Red Wings.

If anyone was hoping for good news out of the Blues, you will be sorely disappointed.

Ivan Barbashev will be rejoining the Blues shortly, but that doesn’t mitigate the concern Blues fans are feeling right now. Schwartz is part of one the NHL’s top lines and is one of the Blues’ top scorers and point producers. This year, he stood a good chance of being selected to his first NHL All-Star Game. That will have to wait.

Unfortunately, the Blues have slumped after previous Schwartz injuries (most of which, oddly enough, have been sustained about this time of the year). Here’s hoping that they can re-tool and limit the impact of this loss.
