Hopefully you’ve heard the news that Jeff Jones and I are co-hosting the early morning radio show on 590 The Fan KFNS. And when I say early, I mean early: 5-7 a.m. Thankfully through the wonders of modern technology you can hear our segments any time you want. Everything is archived at InsideSTL.com where you can also stream the show live.
Tuesday’s show was Episode Two. Or Show Two. It was our second day on the air. And because we set the bar so low on day one, I think we cleared it pretty easily. We had a straightforward hockey talk, some calls and texts from listeners and an interview with an NHL reporter. We did more journalism before 7 a.m. than most of you people will do all day.
SEGMENT 1: We talked about the Monday nigh 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers. We played some of the audio from Mike Yeo’s postgame comments and tried to get to the essence of what he was saying. And we took a few calls from frustrated Blues fans. Somehow that phrase sounds a little redundant.
SEGMENT 2: In the first segment of the 6 a.m. hour we continued to talk the Panthers and Blues and spent a little time breaking down Carl Gunnarsson and his ongoing struggle to play more than one game in a row before being a healthy scratch.
SEGMENT 3: NHL.com reporter Tom Gulitti joined us on the phone to talk trade deadline stuff as well as a little bit of insight into his old friend Lou Lamoriello.
It’s still kind of amazing to both of us that we have this radio show. So far in two days we’ve talked about four hours of hockey. Thanks for giving us a listen.
