Coyotes at Blues morning open thread: Back on track

The Blues got a point on Saturday night. They should get two tonight.

So, Brian Elliott stood victorious on Saturday night. Bully for him.

Tonight, the Blues will be seeing a team that is significantly not as good as the Flames are this season. The Coyotes are still generally awful this year. Mike Smith, who turned in a pretty good performance in a 3-0 loss against the Blues on March 18th, shouldn’t bear the brunt of the blame for Arizona’s -60 goal differential.

But there they are, at the bottom of the West again, and the Blues should benefit from playing them in this home-and-home series. Saturday’s loss knocked the Blues back down to the second wild card slot; a win tonight could get them back up into third place in the Central, which is a more comfortable position.

It’s been nearly five years since the Blues last lost to the Coyotes in regulation. Let’s keep that trend going.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for your usual game day goodies, and head back by tonight for our GDT.
