Blues Vs. Coyotes Recap: Coyote Ugly 2: The Huttoning

Zzzzz, oh what? Late games, am I right?

Game Highlights:

Here we go again. The Blues and Coyotes took to the ice again tonight after the Blues 4-1 win. Only this time with more howling. And no Mike Smith.

First Period -

Remember Monday night, how the Blues only had 5 shots on goal the first period? They might have hit that total before they even got to the halfway mark. The first period even included two Scottie Upshall breakaways. While yes he didn't score, the fourth line brought the energy to the rest of the team. That being said, it was Patrik Berglund that opened up the scoring in this one. A few things happened on this play. First, you may have missed the excellent keep in by Colton Parayko as the puck was literally inches from leaving the zone. Second, a great pass from Magnus Paajarvi, (he's starting to win a lot of people over, playing great and putting the Wolves behind him). Thirdly, the finish from Berglund scoring and matching his career high 22nd goal of the year. At least Louis Domingue got to show off his dance moves.

The Blues gave Jake Allen a well deserved night off. Carter Hutton probably felt like he had the night off too. The Coyotes' shots came few and far between. When they did come, Hutton was ready. Peter Holland comes in on a partial break that Hutton was able to stop. Bouwmeester also might have gotten away with one, but what are you gonna do?

The final shots for the first were 16-7 in favor of the Blues.

Second Period -  The Blues started the second like they had the first. Just pounding the Coyotes in their zone. They opened up the period on the power play. Vladimir Tarasenko had a chance, but his goal wouldn't come until the teams were back at even strength. Tarasenko was able to pick the puck up off a rebound chance. He slung it past Domingue for his 36th of the year, and gave the Blues a 2-0 lead.

Most of the period felt as if the Coyotes' officials were only going to have to run the zamboni over one end of the ice. The Coyotes did make a push back toward the end of the period, but couldn't do anything. Shots were 14-6 in favor of the Blues that period.

Third Period - The Coyotes were starting to push back in the third. Hutton denied Tobias Rieder of a breakaway chance early on in the period. No Bouwmeester hanging on anyone this time.

The Coyotes did take advantage of a late powerplay, and scored with about five and a half minutes left to make this game 2-1. Alex Goligoski gets one past Hutton with an assist going to that guy from Swansea, Illinois CLAYTON KELLER. With that the Coyotes make this game closer than it should have been.

Hutton wasn't having any of this comeback nonsense on his watch. Moments after the powerplay goal, Hutton made a terrific kick/glove save on Oliver Ekman-Larson.

The Blues sealed this one off thanks to an empty netter from David Perron. Capping off what was a great game from 56/21/57. Perron got his 16th of the year on the play. Did the Coyotes player think the broken stick negated the goal?

The Blues take this one 3-1 in Arizona. They had a chance to clinch had the Kings lost. They did not, so their confirmed playoff spot will have to wait. They did however move back to third place in the Central. They also are tied with Calgary at 90 points if you're still looking at the Wild Card. The Blues control their own destiny now as all they have to do is beat Colorado.
