Predators at Blues morning open thread: Not done yet

The Blues may have clinched, but now they get to fight for positioning.

I know, it’s April second. The Blues have clinched a playoff spot. Something else is happening down Clark later this evening. It feels like coasting time.

It’s not.

As injuries become a concern, the Blues have to battle the Predators for the last non-wild card spot in the Central. The team that finishes third gets to take on the struggling Minnesota Wild. The team that doesn’t? Either the Sharks or the Blackhawks are the prize, depending on where the Calgary Flames close their season.

Both teams sit at 91 points in the standings. Chances are good that this game today has more weight than either team would prefer. But them’s the breaks in April playoff hockey.

Today’s game begins at 3:00 to give fans a chance to make it to Busch Stadium, Ballpark Village, or the nearest sports bar to watch the Cardinals take on the Cubs. Just because it’s Opening Day doesn’t mean that hockey season’s done. Check back later on for your usual game day slate, and make sure that you’re back at three for the GDT.
