After squandering a good opportunity to bring the series back to St. Louis all tied up at two apiece, the Blues now are facing elimination on home ice.
If the Blues really do thrive with their backs against the wall, you can’t get much more against the wall than what’s going on tonight in Scottrade. Lose and go home. Sure, most of us are just kind of happy to see the Blues in the playoffs. The regular season tempered expectations, even with the hot play down the stretch, so as some fans have put it, the team’s been playing with “house money.”
They haven’t played badly this series - most of the games have been supremely closely played - but they also haven’t been able to dig deeply enough to put together a sixty minute game. Tonight would be a good place to start.
Sure, it’s hard to come back from 3-1 deficits, but teams have done it before. Look at the Cubs.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for your usual game day goodies, and I’ll be joining you guys from the GDT from lovely SunTrust Park while I probably wait for the rain delay on tonight’s Cardinals game to end.
