It’s the playoffs, so injuries are to be expected. Alexander Steen missed game four with a broken foot (and played in game five anyway), and now we’re treated to this news today:
Vladimir Tarasenko won't play at the #IIHFWorlds, will have a surgery #STLBlues

Igor Eronko is Sport-Express’ KHL/NHL correspondent, and his source here is the coach of Team Russia Oleg Znarok, who broke the news to press today.
What is this injury?
It’s a mystery.
I'm aware of tweet/report regarding Tarasenko needing surgery. I've reached out and I'm awaiting more information. #stlblues

Andrew Allsman has an idea of when it could’ve happened:
First thing I thought of when I saw the report that Tarasenko would need surgery was this play from Game 1 vs. NSH: https://t.co/xUwzWWwvCW

Regardless, this might explain some of Tarasenko’s absence in round two, whatever “this” is. We’ll update the post whenever the pending surgery rumor gets updated and official.
