Blues fans were hoping that they could bribe the Vegas Golden Knights into taking Jori Lehtera. Those dreams did not come to fruition. Tonight at the 2017 NHL Draft, the Blues snookered the Philadelphia Flyers into taking Lehtera and his $4.7 million a year contract.
Brayden Schenn to STL for Lehtera, the 27th pick and a conditional first next year

Lehtera had seven goals and 15 assists in 64 games played last year, most of which saw him centering Vladimir Tarasenko. Brayden Schenn, in contrast netted 25 goals and 30 assists in 79 games.
Consider David Perron and his numbers replaced, but with a center who is actually useful.
Schenn’s cap hit is $5,125,000, but as opposed to Lehtera, his production actually comes close to his cost.
