1967 means something to both the Blues' and Maple Leafs' fanbases. Obviously, that was the last time that the Leafs have won a Stanley Cup, and it was the start of the first season of the Blues' Cup drought. Both teams have had serious ups and downs over the season, but somehow the Blues didn't lose any ground during the bye week thanks to Nashville having one too, and Winnipeg losing the two games that they played.
Factor in the pending (hopefully) return of Jaden Schwartz and a January that isn't nearly as busy for the Blues as December was, and you have an opportunity for St. Louis' fortunes to do a turn around.
The Blues lost 7-4 to the Florida Panthers before their bye week, while the Leafs lost to the Senators by the score of 4-3. Both teams sit third in their respective divisions, the Leafs with 53 points and the Blues with 55. The Leafs are 4-4-2 in their last ten, the Blues 4-5-1.
It's the middle of the season for two teams who appear to be content with the middle of the road.
This is your GameDay Thread. Comment like you'd like one of those teams to get over into the fast lane.
Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
