Hot on the heels of the Blues’ 7-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks comes some reinforcements. The team announced today that they were recalling Robby Fabbri, Nikita Soshnikov, and Carl Gunnarsson from the San Antonio Rampage.
To make room for Fabbri, forward Jordan Kyrou was sent down to the AHL club. In nine games played so far this season, Kyrou has one assist.
The Blues don’t have any issues scoring this season, but their defense has been questionable at best. Gunnarsson should lend some stability to the defense for now with Robert Bortuzzo out and will give coach Mike Yeo some flexibility in his pairings.
Of note is the fact that Ville Husso is being recalled. Jake Allen was injured Saturday night against the Blackhawks and did not return to the game. Allen’s condition has not been updated since Saturday night; it’s probably safe to assume that Chad Johnson will be the starter for now with Husso backing him up. Johnson was perfect in relief of Allen, stopping all five shots against in the third period.
