Blues re-assign Ville Husso to San Antonio Rampage

Apparently Jake Allen isn’t that hurt.

Saturday night in the second period of the Blues 7-3 victory over the Blackhawks, Zach Sanford went careening into Jake Allen and this happened:

Allen was injured and left the game; Chad Johnson came in as relief to stop all five shots that he faced. The Blues recalled goaltender Ville Husso from the San Antonio Rampage, presumably to back up Johnson tomorrow night against the Vegas Golden Knights. Nearly as quickly as Husso was recalled, however, he was sent back down. He was available for a few practices, but now it looks like Allen will be available for Thursday night.

From the Blues’ press release:

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the Blues have assigned goaltender Ville Husso (WHO-soh) to the club’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Husso, 23, has appeared in seven games for the Rampage this season, posting a 1-6-0 record, a 3.19 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage. The 6’2, 205-pound native of Helsinki, Finland, was originally drafted by the Blues in the fourth round, 94th overall, of the 2014 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.

Breathe easier, Blues fans. Or, well, as close to easier as you can get.
