Get ready for a Wednesday Night Used to be Rivalry game

Remember when games between the Blues and Detroit Red Wings used to be massive rivalry contests? NBC Sports remembers, because the game is tonight’s Wednesday Night Hockey. Not content to air a 1-0 Blues-Blackhawks showdown in which the only goal scored was (accidentally) by Jay Bouwmeester, they’ve doubled down on two teams this year who have been playing less than stellar hockey. The difference between the Blues and Red Wings is that the Wings were expected to be continuing their rebuild and the Blues were supposed to at least be somewhere within the vicinity of the playoff picture.

But forward Alexander Steen returns tonight, so perhaps that can lend the line-up some oomph. He’ll be eased back into work on the fourth line with Ivan Barbashev and Oskar Sundqvist. Sammy Blais is taking a seat.

This is your gameday thread. Comment like you miss Red Wings trolls in the comment section.

Let’s do this. Let’s Go Blues.
