The San Jose Sharks (8-5-3) are in town to face the St.Louis Blues (5-5-3) at the Enterprise Center. The Sharks are 6-2-2 over their last 10 games, and tonight’s tilt against the Blues will be their second contest in two days.
San Jose has a wealth of talent in their top six. Beyond the usual suspects (Thorton, Pavelski, Kane, Couture, and Donskoi), upstart youngster Timo Meier is on an absolute tear, scoring 12 goals in only 16 games played this season. Blues starter Chad Johnson will be tested early and often by this dynamic forward group.
St.Louis is well rested, and coming off a solid 4-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes, but the Blues’ sluggish start to the season has Head Coach Mike Yeo feeling the heat (especially since future-hall-of-fame coach Joel Quenneville recently became unemployed.) Newly-acquired power forward Pat Maroon is a healthy scratch; Yeo told the press the Oakville native was in need of a ‘reset.’ Brayden Schenn is also out of the lineup for the Blues with a ‘lower-body injury.’
Here are tonight’s projected lines:
