Excuse me as I pretend to hide my complete shock and awe at this announcement. Brace yourselves, everyone.

The Blues have put Chad Johnson on waivers and recalled Jordan Binnington from the San Antonio Rampage.

Incredible, I know. It’s almost like having a 3.54 GAA and a .884 save percentage is a bad thing in today’s NHL, or a 2-6-0 record is probably not helping the Blues’ postseason odds, which no longer exist.

Or having aging players signed to batshit contracts with NTCs prevented the Blues from re-signing a capable backup goaltender who has a decent 12-8-0 record and a much better stats line, or from actually being able to peruse the backup market for something other than a broken sieve that you find at a garage sale.

But whatever. The Blues have gotten at least 5% better in net with the addition of Jordan Binnington, who currently has a 2.34 GAA and a .914 save percentage to go with his 8-4-2 record.

Baby steps, people.
