The Blues have made their first foray into the trade market. They’ve dealt a 2019 4th round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Nikita Soshnikov. Soshnikov has played three games with the Maple Leafs this season. He’s currently on IR, but according to TSN, once he acquires a US visa he should be cleared and on the Blues’ roster.
His stint on the IR appears to be motivated by a call-up and a jam-packed roster. Basically, he was on the Leafs’ IR to have somewhere for him to go until he was traded.
He’s spent most of the year with the Toronto Marlies, with seven goals and 10 assists in 19 games this season. He has seven goals, seven assists, and 22 PIM in 70 NHL games played, all with the Maple Leafs. Last season he had five goals and four assists in 56 GP. He arrives with a $736,666 cap hit.
