Blues playoff watch: March 24th

Yesterday was very good for the Blues. Will they be having a good Saturday, too?

I don’t want to get cocky, but I think that the Dallas Stars are in trouble, and the Bruins may have shut the doors on their playoff hopes.

The Blues, by virtue of the fact that the Anaheim Ducks stole a point last night in Winnipeg, are currently a point behind the Colorado Avalanche for the last Wild Card spot - but they’re also only three points behind third place Minnesota. Colorado plays this afternoon in Vegas, and if they lose to the Golden Knights it opens a window for the Blues to get back into a playoff slot with a win over Columbus.

According to PlayoffStatus.com, the Blues are up to a 70% chance of making the playoffs if their current streak can continue. They are right neck and neck with the Avs.

According to Sports Club Stats, the Blues obviously need to be rooting for Vegas (a 5.2% boost if they win), They also need to be rooting for the Preds over the Wild just to keep that window open for third place. A win over the Blue Jackets is the biggest boost of all - a 12.5% boost to the odds that we’ll be seeing post-season hockey at Scottrade.
