Blues at Blue Jackets Preview: Back-to-back? No problem.

The Blues have been outrageously strong in the second of back-to-back games.

The last time that the Blues met up with the Blue Jackets, they won 4-1. They’re also 9-2-2 in the second game of back to backs this season. They’re 20-9-1 against the Eastern Conference this year.

They’re one point out of the playoffs as of right now.

This game tonight, just like every other game for the rest of the season, has huge playoff implications. A win bumps them up to a 74% chance of making the post-season. It’s doable. It’s within sight.

The Blues have managed to lose Carl Gunnarsson for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, so the road ahead may be a little rougher than it needed to be, and facing the red-hot Blue Jackets sans a key defenseman may be tough. Columbus is on a ten game winning streak right now and are neigh impossible to beat.

The Blues need to keep an eye on Cam Atkinson, who has five goals in his last five games. The Blue Jackets probably need to keep an even sharper eye on Alex Pietrangelo. He added an assist last night to get to 51 points on the season, and has eight points in his last five games.

All good things must come to an end, and that includes the Jackets’ winning streak. Let’s hope the Blues can be the ones to end it tonight.
