The Avalanche did themselves no favors last night.

After last night’s 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Colorado Avalanche have five games remaining. The Wild Card standings (thankfully) look the same after last night, but there’s an extra L in there for the Avs.

The Blues now have a game in hand on both the Ducks and Avalanche, and this (along with the loss) might be the Avs’ undoing. SportsClubStats.com has them down to 49.7%, with last night’s loss dropping their chances 16.4%. Oof. PlayoffStatus.com is more forgiving - they have the Avs at a 55% chance of making the playoffs still.

The Blues are at 92% here; over on SportsClubStats.com they sit at 88.1%. Last night’s Avalanche defeat bumped the Blues’ odds 3.8%.

Tonight we all should be rooting for the Arizona Coyotes, because every little bit helps.
