Tage Thompson selected to Team USA’s World Championship roster

It’s a silver lining for missing the playoffs.

NHL: Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues Billy Hurst-USA TODAY Sports

Tage Thompson didn’t have an earth-shattering rookie season for the Blues. He had three goals and six assists in 41 games. He was sent down to the AHL a few times and a healthy scratch some others, but something stood out to USA Hockey (whose selection group includes Bill Zito, Stan Bowman, David Poile, Ray Shero, and Dale Tallon, because he’s off to Denmark to represent team USA at this year’s World Championships starting May 4th.

He’ll be a supporting player on a surprisingly decent roster. Patrick Kane, Dylan Larkin, Anders Lee, Johnny Gaudreau, Alex DeBrincat, and Scott Darling in net.

The tournament will run from May 4th through May 20th and will be broadcast on the NHL Network.
