Center Robert Thomas, the Blues’ first selection (20th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, led the Hamilton Bulldogs to the Ontario Hockey League Robertson Cup championship on Sunday, helping pace the Bulldogs to a 5-4 win in Game Six of the league championship final series.
Down 3-2 in the third period, Hamilton got goals from Florida pick Riley Stillman (son of ex-Blue Corey Stillman) and Thomas to take a 4-3 lead midway through the final stanza.
Thomas, who led the Bulldgs in playoff scoring with a 12-20-32 line, was named the Wayne Gretzky “99” Award winner as the MVP of the 2018 OHL playoffs.
