Jaden Schwartz can’t catch a break. Team Canada’s advancing to the semifinals of the IIHF World Championship (as is Team USA), but Schwartz may not be heading there with them. Schwartz was injured in Team Canada’s tight 5-4 win over Russia.

As a change of pace, today’s injury was an upper-body one. Schwartz had an assist on Kyle Turris’ goal in the third period. Colton Parayko had a goal and an assist in the win; Nikita Soshnikov had an assist for Russia.

Schwartz has four assists and is a +6 so far this tournament. Specifics of the injury have not been released, but Doug Armstrong can’t be thrilled. Schwartz was also knocked out of the 2010 World Juniors with a foot injury.
