Tis the QO season. As one of the last moves before unrestricted free agency begins on July 1st, NHL teams are tendering their qualifying offers to their restricted free agents. Only two of the Blues’ eleven RFAs were passed over: defenseman Tommy Vanelli and forward Justin Selman.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington, defensemen Jordan Schmaltz, Joel Edmundson, and Petteri Lindbohm, and forwards Robby Fabbri, Dmitrij Jaskin, Oskar Sundqvist, Beau Bennett and MacKenzie MacEachern were all tendered qualifying offers today. Players have some time to mull it over and accept; if an agreement isn’t reached hen arbitration is the next step. With a QO on the table, the Blues retain negotiation rights with the player should another team attempt an offer sheet.
