August is the worst month of summer even when you don’t take hockey into consideration. It’s hotter than hell outside, school is back in session which means more traffic, the earth is roughly the same temperature as the center of the sun, and also, it’s hot.
Factor in hockey and this month gets about ten times longer. September has training camp and pre-season games. We can start making roster speculation posts and come up with our dream line combos. The first Jake Allen thinkpieces of the year can go up without it looking like people are beating a dead horse.
August? The Blues hired St. Louis Joey Vitale as their new color guy on KMOX (congrats!) and they broke ground on their new practice facility out in Maryland Heights, which gave us all this photo of Brett Hull and a shovel.
It’s almost as if the guys in this photo don’t have a lot of experience holding shovels. pic.twitter.com/07sYFfluMP— St. Louis Game Time-Proudly Unver1fied (@StLouisGameTime) August 16, 2018
This is what we’re working with, people.
So, what is annoying you the most about this particular month of summer? We have less than two months until hockey is back, but lord, it feels like longer.
What is the worst thing about being a hockey fan in August?

The Blues won’t have any third-tier free agency signings for me to overanalyze.
Seeing clickbait outrage pieces obviously written because clickbait.
Reading clickbait outrage pieces despite knowing better.
Having to wait to see the new renovations in the Enterprise Center.
Having free time to retrain yourself into saying/typing "Enterprise Center" instead of "Scottrade Center."
Jake Allen thinkpieces four months after the Blues got knocked out of the playoffs and a month and a half before the season starts.
It’s fucking hot.
