The Blues should’ve taken their 4-0 loss to the Washington Capitals as a bit of a wake-up call. Caught up in the excitement of icing what basically could be an opening night line-up, the Blues looked slow, and while they managed over 40 shots on goal not a one of them went in.
It’s not a cause for concern, though. Those kinds of issues, and the resolution of them, is what the pre-season is for. It’s best to find a solution now as opposed to finding one three weeks into the season.
The Blues’ lines tonight are similar, though the defense has changed. Robert Bortuzzo will be missing the next three games, including the season opener, thanks to a suspension for elbowing. Here’s the line-up, via the Blues’ official game day blog:
Forwards: Ivan Barbashev, Sammy Blais, Tyler Bozak, Jordan Kyrou, Pat Maroon, Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron, Brayden Schenn, Jaden Schwartz, Oskar Sundqvist, Vladimir Tarasenko, Robert Thomas
Defense: Jay Bouwmeester, Joel Edmundson, Colton Parayko, Alex Pietrangelo, Jordan Schmaltz, Jake Walman
Goalies: Jake Allen, Ville Husso
