Blues at Capitals Preseason GameDay Thread

The Blues were flat with their near-regular season lineup last week. Will some kids make the difference today?

NHL: Washington Capitals at St. Louis Blues Joe Puetz-USA TODAY Sports

Last Tuesday, the Blues fell to the Washington Capitals 4-0 at home with a pretty wet thud. Despite over 40 shots on goal, the Blues failed to capitalize against an young goaltender. The disappointing thing is that this was a roster that was as close to regular season as could be expected in September.

The good thing, however, is that the Blues bounced back with nearly the same roster for a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars. This is why we have the preseason: kinks gotta get worked out somewhere.

Yesterday, the Blues called up some young players from San Antonio to give the opening night presumptives a bit of rest. Someone who isn’t getting rest tonight? Jake Allen, who’s about in early-season game shape. Here are tonight’s lines:

Forwards: Ivan Barbashev, Sammy Blais, Brian Flynn, Dmitrij Jaskin, Klim Kostin, Mackenzie MacEachern, Adam Musil, David Perron, Zach Sanford, Oskar Sundqvist, Robert Thomas, Chris Thorburn

Defense: Chris Butler, Vince Dunn, Niko Mikkola, Mitch Reinke, Jordan Schmaltz, Jake Walman, Tyler Wotherspoon

Goalies: Jake Allen, Chad Johnson

Today’s game is on the NHL Network (yay, television!) or you can listen in on the Caps Radio Network.
