Last pre-season, Capitals forward Tom Wilson was given a two game suspension for a high hit to the head on Blues’ prospect Robert Thomas. He was then suspended the first four games of the 2017-2018 season for a high hit on Sammy Blais. In a continuation of his apparent pre-season tradition, Wilson laid this high hit on Oskar Sundqvist:
It is very rare that I editorialize when looking at hits and possible pending suspensions (and you know one’s coming for Wilson), but Tom Wilson has been a constant repeat offender at this kind of shit for years. His teammates say he “plays with an edge;” everyone else says “holy shit, he just broke that kid’s jaw!”
Needless to say, he has been offered to chat with player safety.
Washington’s Tom Wilson has been offered an in-person hearing for an Illegal Check to the Head on St. Louis’ Oskar Sundqvist. Date and time TBD.

Wilson was suspended nine games last season between the preseason, regular season, and playoffs.
Mike Yeo’s outlook on Sundqvist was not good. If it was doubtful that Sundqvist would be on the opening night roster, I think it’s safe to say that we can just go on and cross him right off of that list.
Yeo:

“He’s definitely hurt. Obviously, he hasn’t seen a doctor yet, but I would be surprised if he didn’t miss a decent amount of time here.”
Concussion?
“He has a couple upper body injuries. He’s in a bad spot right now. I feel bad for him.” https://t.co/f78vlF9tpB
Mike Yeo on Wilson (via the lovely @SamanthaJPell): "It was predatory and that is what he’s done and he’s done that against us so that’s the way he plays the game and obviously again, like I said, we’ll see what the league does.”
