Oilers Vs. Blues Recap: More like McGotShutDown.

Game Highlights:

First Period -

No Goals.

Shots for the period were 15-10 in favor of the Blues.

Second Period -

The Blues were finally able to put one on the board in the second. Edmonton turned the puck over and Jaden Schwartz passed the puck over to Vince Dunn. Dunn then hit Brayden Schenn with a pass in stride. Schenn skated in all alone and scored on Oilers starter Not Mike Smith. Er, Mikko Kaskinen. Schenn scored his 15th of the year with Dunn (5) and Schwartz (16) on the assists. 1-0 Blues.

Shots in the second period were 19-8 in favor of the Blues. Of note in the period, the Blues had a 5-on-3 power play for a minute and a half, but couldn’t score. Seems like that’s something they still need to work on from last year. Although, the power play was 0 fer 5 on the night so *shrug emoji*

Third Period -

Mackenzie MacEachern scored one of the easiest goals that he will ever score thanks to a beautiful pass from Ryan O’Reilly. David Perron moved the puck up the boards. O’Reilly was there to take the puck, make his defender miss, and then get the puck to MacEachern. With Kaskinen down MacEachern was able to elevate the puck over him for the goal. It was number 6 for MacEachern with O’Reilly (26) and Perron (19) on the assists. 2-0 Blues.

The Oilers made it a close one late as James Neal scored a goal from a sharp angle. The Blues challenged for goalie interference as Zack Kassian got in the way of Jake Allen. (More on Kassian in a minute). Alas, it was ruled a good goal and put the only blemish on Allen’s outstanding night. Neal scored his 16th of the year from some asshole (Kassian) and the other guy that isn’t Connor McDavid (Draisaitl) Here was the explination from the NHL on the good goal call...“It was confirmed that the incidental contact between Edmonton’s Zack Kassian and St. Louis’ goaltender Jake Allen occurred in the white ice and did not constitute goaltender interference.” Oh, ok guys. Thanks, I guess.

Final score 2-1 Blues. Other than the abysmal powerplay, the Blues looked great for the second game in a row. They swept the four game homestand. They also held McDavid to just 3 shots on goal and off the score sheet. (Justin Faulk had 9) Final shot totals were 44-36 in favor of the Blues. The Blues now head on the road to take on the Sharks Saturday night.

Zack Kassian is garbage, oh and some tweets.

So for whatever reason other than he’s a shitty person Zack Kassian decided he wanted to hit Oskar Sundqvist. That’s cool. I love me a good hockey hit. However, when said hit is on a delayed penalty after the whistle had already blown to his head/jaw I draw the line.
