Last weekend in San Jose was the NHL’s annual All-Star Game, and for the first time since the new round-robin three on three tournament began. the Central Division made it to the final game. Sure, they were taken out by the Metro, but there was a lot to like in what the Central guys put forward - especially Ryan O’Reilly.
He finished the Central’s 10-4 clobbering of the Pacific with a goal and three assists, and contributed a goal and two assists in the Central’s 10-5 loss to the Metro. Needless to say, two goals and five assists is a pretty ok All-Star Game to have.
O’Reilly showed the league what a key asset he is for the Blues. Sure, the team may’ve been struggling almost all season (they’re not dead yet!) but I think it’s safe to say that the Blues won the trade.
Tomorrow morning at 8 AM and 11 AM Central (and Sunday at 9:00 Central), the NHL Network will be airing a special All-Star weekend edition of NHL Ice Time and ROR features heavily. Take a look, and make sure to tune in to shake off some of the bye-week doldrums before the Blues get back into action tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
