For anyone that loves sports betting, this is for you.
I have found an interesting guide about betting on the NHL so I thought to share. Hopefully, it can help you make some money from betting on the Blues!
So, here is how you can bet on the NHL.
This is picking the team that you believe will win.
Imagine you had the following odds for a fictional match between the Blues and the Vancouver Canucks:
St. Louis Blues -110
Vancouver Canucks +230
These odds imply that the Blues are favorites to win, indicated by the '-' sign. You must wager $110 to win $100.
Conversely, these odds imply that the Canucks are the underdogs, indicated by the '+' sign. You stand to win $230 from a $100 wager.
This is like the moneyline except that the teams have a 1.5 goal handicap placed on them.
So, using the above example, puckline odds look like this:
Blues -1.5 +210
Canucks +1.5 -165
To win a puckline bet on the Blues, they must beat the Canucks by 2 goals or more. If they lose or win by a single goal, you lose the bet. If the game enters overtime, you automatically lose the bet as they cannot win by more than 1 goal.
To win a puckline bet on the Canucks they must win or not lose by 1 goal or more. If they lose more than 2 goals, you lose the bet. If the game enters overtime, you automatically win the bet as they cannot lose by more than 1 goal.
You may have also noticed that the Blues are now the underdogs for this bet.
In the NFL, most futures are placed on the winner of the Stanley Cup.
If you get it right, the payouts tend to be quite large, especially if you bet at the beginning of the season!
If you're one to follow your heart when it comes to sports betting, this is the one for you!
The final way to bet on the NHL is totals ie the number of goals scored in the match.
Using the same match again, you may have totals odds that look like:
Over 6.5 -115
Under 6.5 +105
If you think there will be 7 or more total goals scored, you bet on the over. If you think there will be less than 6 total goals scored, you bet on the under.
Note that totals also include overtime.
We can't talk about sports betting without mentioning bankroll management.
Your betting units must be in line with your bankroll.
