St. Louis Blues Steadily Climbing the Standings

NHL: St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

After earning points in eight of their last ten games, and three points out of a playoff spot, the St. Louis Blues have found their way back into playoff contention.

The St. Louis Blues will play their fourth straight road game tonight as they travel south to take on the Florida Panthers. Even though the Panthers haven’t been their best this season, the Blues need to take advantage of the opportunity and grind for the two points tonight.

With the Blues sitting just three points back of the second wild-card spot, the Blues are in a very good position to be serious contenders in the Western Conference. The schedule, however, does not favor the St. Louis Blues. The team will have to earn points against some of the best competition in the league.

After tonight’s game against the Panthers, St. Louis will play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, and then have a home-and-home series against the Nashville Predators on back-to-back nights.

While the Blues have some games at hand against many other teams in the Western Conference, there is little room for error for the second half of the season.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Jordan Binnington will return to the Blues net tonight in Florida, and as St. Louis keeps grinding wins, look for the hot 25-year-old to continue to play between the pipes.
