Remember when the Red Wings coming to St. Louis was something that you circled on your calendar? Remember having to yell at Wings trolls on the GDTs?
Remember “Fuck Detroit!”?
Yeah. It kind of feels cruel yelling that now. The Wings are second to last in the Eastern Conference with 62 points and will miss the playoffs for the third straight year. They’re 3-6-1 in their last ten games, but are on a two game win streak.
If you look up “spoiler” in the dictionary, it’d be the Red Wings.
The Blues should be able to light them up like they lit up the Oilers Tuesday night. The Blues need to head back to their houses with two points. Dallas has been on a 7-2-1 hot streak and have closed the gap between them and the third place Blues (4-4-2), and they’ve been able to do that by virtue of the Blues not being able to take care of the job with teams out of the playoffs. Losing 2-0 to Ottawa? Dropping a point to Buffalo? With a schedule that has just two playoff teams as opponents in their last nine games (Tampa Bay and Vegas), the Blues should easily be able to pad their points total.
With Vladimir Tarasenko and David Perron back, and Jaden Schwartz scoring more, the Blues are as healthy as they’re going to be to close out this season. They need to take advantage of it.
