Ryan O’Reilly nominated for Lady Byng Trophy

This is his second NHL Award nomination this week.

Ryan O’Reilly might be having the best week of any of the Blues, but he’s not having it on the ice. After being nominated for the Selke Trophy for defensive forward, O’Reilly has been nominated for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. The Lady Byng is given to the player “adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”

With 77 points this season (28G, 49 A), O’Reilly had a career year. If he were to win the Lady Byng, it wouldn’t be his first time - he won it previously in 2014. O’Reilly had a minuscule 12 penalty minutes in 82 games played.

The other nominees for the Lady Byng this season are Aleksander Barkov and Sean Monahan. If O’Reilly were to win, he’d join Brett Hull, Pavol Demitra, and Phil Goyette as the Blues to be honored.
