Oh, no: The Blues are now Bovada’s bet to win the Stanley Cup

Ante up, people.

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Winnipeg Jets at St. Louis Blues Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Back before the season began, Bovada’s oddsmakers had the Stanley Cup going to the Tampa Bay Lightning at 9/1 odds. The Jets were in a four way tie with the Bruins, Leafs, and Golden Knights for 10/1 odds. The Blues?

The Blues were hanging out with the Avs, Panthers, and Devils with 40/1 odds.

I hope some of you guys put some money on the Blues, because according to Bovada now, you stand a good chance of getting a nice payout. The Blues and Capitals rank at the top of the odds right now with 5.5-1 odds, but the Capitals are still in a battle with the Carolina Hurricanes. If the Caps win tonight, they move on to round two. If the Hurricanes win tonight, they’re forcing a game seven.

Potentially the Blues’ toughest competition in the West can force a game seven as well if the Predators beat the Dallas Stars. On the other hand, the Blues may be playing the Stars if they win at home, and judging how Dallas played against St. Louis, that may not be the outcome that we want.

Head on down to the casino and put a 20 on the Blues. Just remember that oddsmakers and video game simulations aren’t real life, and the playoffs are weird, man. The playoffs are weird.
