Hey, is there something happening today?

It’s ok in all of the Stanley Cup hangover if you forgot that the NHL Draft was this weekend. After all, the Blues don’t have a first round pick this year (enjoy 31st overall, Buffalo!) and they barely have any picks during rounds two through seven. The Blues are selecting last in every round, so that means that they’re picking number 62 overall in round two, number 93 overall in round three, number 155 in all in round five, and number 217 overall in round seven.

The Blues lost their fourth round pick in the deal for Nikita Soshnikov and their sixth round pick for Michael Del Zotto.

With the Blues only having four picks tomorrow, then, why should fans watch tonight? The most obvious reason (other than a weather rain-out of the return of Albert Pujols) is to hear teams congratulate the Blues over and over again for winning the Stanley Cup. It will be delightful to hear that out of Stan Bowman’s mouth as the Blackhawks pick third overall. The other obvious reason to watch are potential trades. The trades may be slower than usual this year due to some uncertainty about the salary cap and the potential for it to be lower than expected, but a surprise or two can still happen.

No way New Jersey whiffs on selecting Jack Hughes first overall. You can watch the draft tonight on NBC Sports or the NBC Sports App. Tomorrow’s portion of the draft will air on NHL Network and Here’s the draft order for tonight, barring trades:
