It’s so hard not to get ahead of ourselves. There’s been discussion of what Blue should win the Conn Smythe already. People are planning spots to celebrate after the game. Expensive cigars have been acquired.
You know what, acquire away. This team - this wonderful, occasionally frustrating team of ours - has a chance tonight to make 52 years of waiting all go away. At about ten thirty tonight, there’s a possibility that you and 19,000 of your closest friends will still be in the Enterprise Center celebrating, or ordering extra shots at the bar down the street, or cheering from New York or Toronto or Rome or wherever you are.
I don’t even want to think about the alternative because there can be no alternative. In this worst to first in the Western Conference season, there’s exactly one step left for the Blues to take. They’ve clinched every other series at home - game six against Winnipeg, game seven against Dallas, and game six against the Sharks. They’ve fought back against some class-A adversity to close series out in a decisive manner. They took up residency in Pete DeBoer’s head right before the Sharks frittered away the Western Conference Final, and they’ve turned Bruins’ coach Bruce Cassidy’s head into an AirBnB.
Hold on to your hats people. It’s game six, and the Stanley Cup is in the house.
This is your GameDay Thread. Comment like you want only one thing.
Let’s do this. Let’s Go Blues.
