The Blues start their 2019 training camp this weekend. The prospects have already camped, and with the addition of the veterans to the ice, the youth probably don’t have long for pre-season.
Unfortunately, if you wanted to see the Blues’ top draft pick from this year, Nikita Alexandrov, you may be out of luck. During the Blues’ sixth place finish at Traverse City Alexandrov took a high hit in the corner that resulted in an upper body injury and his arm in a sling.
He finished the tournament with a goal and an assist, and while the longest of the long shots for the Blues, the center stands to improve on an impressive season with the Charlottetown Islanders. Last season, in 64 games, Alexandrov had 27 goals and 34 assists, and he is expected to add a bit to that total this season.
