Blues at Jets Preseason GameDay Thread

Winnipeg’s got some issues.

St. Louis Blues v Winnipeg Jets - Game Two

The last time that the Blues visited the Winnipeg Jets, it was the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and Jaden Schwartz was busy teaching Jets fans the meaning of the word “disappointment.”

It turns out that the lesson was important, because so far this off-season has been very disappointing for the Jets. Patrik Laine is in Finland training because there’s no RFA contract on the horizon. Turns out that the 30 goal scorer would like to be on the Jets’ top line. Dustin Byfuglien is on a leave of absence from the team trying to figure his future out. Their top defensemen from last year are all gone.

The team’s gone from a top contender in the Central to driving the struggle bus within just a few months.

Tonight is mostly a focus on the remaining prospects. Ryan O’Reilly, Sammy Blais, David Perron, and Zach Sanford are the only vets up front. Everyone else is still trying to fit into Pat Maroon’s roster spot - and Klim Kostin is going to try the hardest for it. He sat out the Blues’ 3-2 last second loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, but he has an impressive performance against the Dallas Stars.

Jake Allen will be making his first preseason start. Here’s tonight’s roster:

Forwards: Sammy Blais, Robby Jackson, Dakota Joshua, Klim Kostin, Mackenzie MacEachern, Jordan Nolan, Ryan Olsen, Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron, Austin Poganski, Zach Sanford, Michael Vecchione, Nathan Walker.

Defense: Jay Bouwmeester, Joel Edmundson, Carl Gunnarsson, Derrick Pouliot, Niko Mikkola, Mitch Reinke.

Goalies: Jake Allen, Ville Husso.

This is your preseason Gameday Thread. Comment like you wish someone would broadcast the away games too.

Let’s do this. Let’s Go Blues.
