A little over a week ago, the Blues began their preseason in Dallas against the Stars. The line-up featured a start from Ville Husso, Klim Kostin’s anticipated first game, and a healthy mix of veterans and prospects. The Blues shut-out the Stars 2-0 that first game, thanks to a Kostin one-timer that blew past Ben Bishop and a Robert Bortuzzo goal. It was a solid start for both Kostin and the Blues.
Tonight, Kostin is in yet again, tied for second in league preseason goals and scoring. On top of that, he also is the proud owner of two game winning goals... and a ton of penalty minutes. He and Jake Walman have been inserted into what amounts to a regular season line-up. If there ever were a time for those two to shine, now is it. Jake Allen is also getting his first home preseason start tonight.
Forwards: Ivan Barbashev, Sammy Blais, Tyler Bozak, Robby Fabbri, Klim Kostin, Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron, Zach Sanford, Brayden Schenn, Jaden Schwartz, Alexander Steen, Oskar Sundqvist.
Defense: Robert Bortuzzo, Vince Dunn, Not Joel Edmundson, Carl Gunnarsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Jake Walman
Goalies: Jake Allen, Adam Wilcox
For Dallas, the preseason is about showing demonstrable improvement. No, really. They have to step up. They have to build confidence.
It appears that Dallas is in hunker down mode already and the season hasn’t even started. I wonder if their owners have written any memos about the players recently.
This is your gameday thread. Comment like you’re expecting Kostin to get a cup of coffee.
Let’s do this. Let’s Go Blues.
