Kraft Hockeyville GameDay Thread: Blues at Red Wings

The Blues are in their second Hockeyville game tonight.

As part of every preseason, Kraft donates $150,000 worth of arena upgrades and $15,000 worth of equipment to one small town who wins their Hockeyville competition. Part of this award is a pre-season hockey game. In 2017, the Blues played the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins in Belle Vernon, PA. The Blues won that game, 4-1.

In April, it was announced that the Blues would participate again, this time in Calumet, MI. They’ll be facing old rivals in the Detroit Red Wings, and this time, the Blues are the defending Cup champions. The nice folks packing the over 100-year-old Calumet Colosseum are in for a treat tonight. They’ve already shown the Red Wings a warm welcome, and local schoolkids got the day off so they could participate.

Tonight’s Blues line-up isn’t exactly star studded, and doesn’t offer fans a look at the newest member of the team, Justin Faulk. But since tonight’s game is going to be broadcast on NBCSN (and the app), there’s at least a chance that we’ll be able to get a solid look at Klim Kostin and see if Sammy Blais can keep up his plea for top-six time.

Forwards: Sammy Blais, Robby Fabbri, Tanner Kaspick, Klim Kostin, Mackenzie MacEachern, Ryan Olsen, Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron, Austin Poganski, Oskar Sundqvist, Robert Thomas, Nathan Walker

Defense: Andreas Borgman, Vince Dunn, Niko Mikkola, Colton Parayko, Mitch Reinke, Jake Walman

Goalie: Jordan Binnington, Adam Wilcox

Don’t forget, 101 ESPN has the radio broadcast, and NBCSN has the TV. The fun starts at 6:00 Central, so hurry home from work, grab some beer and dinner, and settle in for some pre-season hockey against some old friends, all for a good cause.
