Blues at Blue Jackets Preseason Game Canceled

Here’s the GDT post anyway.

Today’s should have been the last pre-season game for the Blues. But it’s not, because the game was canceled. Why? Because the Blues’ chartered aircraft isn’t working. Here’s the statement from Doug Armstrong:

“Due to an unforeseen mechanical issue with our chartered aircraft, we are unable to travel to Columbus for tonight’s game. We apologize to the Blue Jackets and their fans for this inconvenience.”

Since it was already written, here’s the GDT post for today. Go ahead, read it, and pretend there’s a game today. Then go watch the Cardinals.

This afternoon’s line-up still isn’t opening night’s, but there have been some hints regarding who the team’s coaching staff might want to keep around. Klim Kostin is back in tonight for one more good go-round before Wednesday night. On the defensive side, you have Mitch Reinke, who has been playing well and may be called up for injury at some point this season. As more and more regulars have been getting ice time, his TOI has decreased, but in the Friday night win over the Washington Capitals he still pulled 15:51 of ice time while getting an assist.

Klim Kostin will be in one last time, and it appears that courtesy of Jordan Kyrou’s extended knee rehab, Kostin has leapfrogged him on the depth chart for now. This will be Kostin’s fifth preseason game. He’s got three goals, three assists, is a +5, and unfortunately is still a little penalty happy. He has 8 PIM, but dialed it back a bit in the game against Dallas, so perhaps the preseason excitement is gone. On the other hand, that was also the only preseason game that he hasn’t scored a goal in, and his ice time was down to 11:34 - but that was because that was a line-up stacked with regulars. Kostin would be facing the same scenario and probably the same usage during the regular season.

Jake Allen’s starting tonight with Jordan Binnington backing him up, in case anyone was curious as to who the goaltenders would be this season.

Sure, the Cardinals are fighting for the division down the road, but after the last couple of losses to the Cubs’ B-Squad, doesn’t hockey sound like more fun?
