Ducks at Blues Recap: More Like Anaheim Sucks.

Game Highlights:

First Period -

Alexander Steen opened up the scoring in the game tonight. Robert Bortuzzo fired the initial shot on net. The puck deflected off a Duck stick and on net. John Gibson made the save but gave up a huge rebound. Steen was there to fire the puck back on net. Gibson got a piece of it, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Steen slapper. Steen scored his third of the year, and gave the Blues a 1-0 lead. Bortuzzo (3) and Schenn (22) with the assists.

Late in the period the Ducks tied the game at one. The Blues turned the puck over in their own zone. The puck trickled to Max Comtois. He fired the puck on net and Allen didn’t see it. Or the controller died. Either way this game was tied at one after one.

Second Period -

When you fail to clear the puck out of your zone bad things happen exhibit 789343. The Ducks player failed to clear the puck out. Robert Thomas was there to collect the puck after the Ducks whiff job. Thomas backhanded a pass to Mackenzie MacEachern. MacEachern with a little backhand tap of his own to Tyler Bozak who finished the play of with a wrist shot past Gibson. Bozak netted his 11th of the year and gave the Blues a 2-1 lead. Assists from MacEachern (3) and Thomas (17)

The Blues were able to cash in on their only power play (the 4 on 3 variety) of the night thanks to some crisp passing. Ryan O’Reilly won the face off. Alex Pietrangelo was there to collect the puck and pass it over to Brayden Schenn. Schenn then hit Jaden Schwartz with a pass that he was able to just tip past Gibson. One of the easier power play goals the Blues have scored that’s for sure. Schwartz nets number 16 on the year and Schenn (23) and Pietrangelo (26) tally the assists. 3-1 Blues.

The Blues dominated the second period. It was a wonder that they even needed to zamboni both ends of the ice. Shots were 22-10 in favor of the Blues.

Third Period -

The Blues scored their fourth and final goal of the night on a boneheaded play by the Ducks. Jay Bouwmeester played the puck up the ice. Gibson came out to play the puck but instead was met by his defender. The two collided and next thing you know Barbashev was there to put the puck in the wide open net. Barbashev scored his 7th of the year and probably one of the easiest goals he’ll score this year.

Blues cruise to a 4-1 win and win their ninth in a row on home ice. Next up for the Blues is the Flyers on Wednesday.
