Blues at Ducks Preview: Will the Blues build on Barbashev’s goal?

Tonight’s game begins at 9:00 Central, but we already know what the score is: 1-1.

This game is, of course, the make-up game for February 11th’s truncated match. That night, Jay Bouwmeester suffered his season ending cardiac incident on the bench, and play was immediately halted for the evening due to the emotional and mental states of both teams. The NHL agreed that the game would be re-scheduled for a later date, as a full game, with the score the same as it was when it ended. Adam Henrique and Ivan Barbashev both get to claim credit for goals.

So, tonight’s game will be three full periods of hockey, with a score of 1-1. No one loses their stats from their time played.

The Blues suffered a flat defeat to the Florida Panthers on Monday night, with the lone goal being a rocket from Colton Parayko. The Avalanche, luckily, also suffered a flat defeat to the L.A. Kings, 3-1. Unfortunately for the Avs, the game wasn’t the only thing that they lost - all-star Nathan MacKinnon went down with a lower body injury and he may miss some time during the playoff push.

The Anaheim Ducks aren’t going to make the playoffs. They’re not a bubble team, like the Panthers - they’re just not going. They allowed 45 shots to the Ottawa Senators last night, but in a sign of how underachieving both teams are, still won, 5-2. They may be a bit tired, which makes them a good target for the Blues to give padding their points another go.

The Blues are 1-1-0 against the Ducks this season, with tonight marking the season finale between the two teams. Let’s go win this one for JayBo.
