The NHLPA released their annual Player’s Poll the other day, and buried among the usual suspects (Sidney Crosby’s the most complete player, Connor McDavid is the best forward, everyone wants to pay to watch Wayne Gretzky play), there were some fun categories. Gritty wins best mascot with 69.5% of the vote, 73% of players are tired of suits and ties on game day, Brad Marchand both excels and is terrible at trash talking, and Tomas Tatar’s nickname is “Tuna.”
I’m not sure what to make of that last one.
Anyway, the players voted on best NHL Bromance, and the winner by leaps and bounds was the duo of Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron.
People started taking note of the bromance during the Stanley Cup Final when David Perron waxed poetic about playing with ROR:
Of course, they had to practice for the Shooting Stars competition together.
But I think we all know what really got this bromance on everyone’s radar:
These may go down in history as the greatest NHL Halloween costumes ever. That takes a level of commitment that everyone who has ever planned a couple’s costume can only hope for.
Congrats you guys on winning the most important category.
