Edit: The poll glitched when I was making it and I had to refresh my browser - I thought the Preds were listed on there. I’m not sure what happened. It’s been fixed.
Today should be the end of the Blues 2019-2020 season, and to be honest it was a game that we probably all had circled on our calendars for a while. After the Blues January slump, the Colorado Avalanche became a thorn in the Blues’ side, a clear example of an object in a rear-view mirror.
When the season was paused after the Blues’ make-up game against the Anaheim Ducks, the Avalanche were two points behind the Blues with eleven games to play for St. Louis, and twelve for the Avs.
Needless to say, tonight could’ve been the game that decided the Central Division. The playoff seeding implications were huge. It’s a less pressure-filled situation than in 2018, where the Blues missed the playoffs by a point while the Avs clinched the last spot in the West, but it could’ve meant the difference between the Blues playing the... well, we don’t know who, because the Western Conference wild card race was a trainwreck.
So here we mark the end of the season. Will we get a continuation of it in real life? No one knows, because we’re not working with a concrete timeline here. We don’t know when stuff ends. Many of us are honestly unaware of what day today is. But we want to think that stuff will return to normal and that we’ll get the Stanley Cup playoffs in whatever form we’re getting them in.
So, if you’d like us to do some “playoff content,” tell us who you think the Blues are playing in the playoffs:
