So far these playoffs, the teams who were the favorites haven’t been fairing well. Chicago put up six on Edmonton. Montreal beat the Penguins in overtime. The Coyotes beat the Predators earlier today, and the Flyers dismantled the much more favored Bruins in their round-robin game.
That begs the question, is there a favorite today? The Blues are the defending Stanley Cup champions with a completely healthy Vladimir Tarasenko. The Colorado Avalanche nipped at the Blues’ heels all season, and they have one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.
The balance of the series started to lean toward the Avalanche, with the Avs winning the last two matchups of the season. The league’s pause might as well be a reset button for the Blues; how hard did they press it?
