Blues at Vegas Golden Knights preview: Bozak out due to Stone hit

The Blues have been on the receiving end of a couple of hits that weren’t handled by the DoPS.

Never mind: the game’s been postponed.

Sammy Blais dished out a high hit against Devon Toews in his first game of the season that was promptly penalized on-ice, and saw him suspended by the Department of Player Safety.

The next game, Robert Bortuzzo was hit high, and on-ice and from the DoPS? Crickets. Tuesday night, Tyler Bozak was a victim of a high hit courtesy of Mark Stone, the Golden Knights’ captain. This time, it was penalized, but the DoPS has declined to discuss the hit further with Stone.

Bozak is out tonight with an upper body injury.

There seems to be a bit of a pattern forming here, and Doug Armstrong - along with fans - aren’t happy about it. But you dust yourself off and you keep playing, even when you blow a third period lead and you have to have your game decided in a shootout. There was a lot to like about Tuesday, though. David Perron had another performance where he was very clearly “tired of this shit,” scoring twice after Alex Tuch’s game opening goal against Jordan Binnington. Jordan Kyrou - who has seven points in seven games - completely outworked and unddressed former Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo. This is how you make an awkward reunion less awkward:

Tonight the Blues will need to shake the trend of losing the second game of two game series - they’ve done it every time so far. Vegas is never easy, and it might be harder without Bozak, but a win is doable.
