The last time that the Blues saw the Stars, it was last week, on September 27th. It was a low-scoring game, tied 1-1 at the end of regulation on the strength of a Pavel Buchnevich goal and ultimately won by Sam Anas in overtime.
That lineup was filled with camp tryouts and regulars; tonight’s should be closer to the latter than the former. Ryan O’Reilly, Brayden Schenn, and David Perron will be the key vets tonight as they were last week. As an added bonus, the Blues will also be icing Vladimir Tarasenko and Brandon Saad, two players who the Stars did not have the pleasure of seeing previously.
The other guys taking the ice tonight are no slouches:

Neighbours-O'Reilly-Perron

Krug-Faulk
Mikkola-Perunovich
Binnington
Lindgren
Jake Neighbours with O’Reilly and Perron on the top line is a huge vote of confidence for him, but what’s notable is how that line stands out among the forward lines - the rest could easily be iced in a regular season game, and to be honest, probably will be (at least the second and third line). Ditto with the defensive pairings. Are we getting closer to another round of camp cuts? Even if we’re not, it’s telling to see what prospects are still getting a look, and who they’re playing on a line or pairing with. Just two pre-season games remain after tonight for the coaching staff to use for evaluation
The game will be available to stream on ESPN101.com, the NHL app, or stlblues.com at 7:00 tonight.
