As you all well know by now, the Blues will be wearing their Reverse Retro jerseys, but that’s not the only different thing in store for tonight’s game. The NHL, dealing with a spate of players in COVID-19 protocol and postponed games (three games are postponed tonight alone), have decided to beef up their rules to mitigate some of the spread. You won’t notice the distanced dressing rooms or what time the players get to the arena, but you will notice that there isn’t any glass behind the bench. Why? Improved air flow. That coupled with the HEPA air purifier back there may help out a little bit with the virus, but it’s introducing a new issue: delay of game penalties.
If the puck goes out of play when it normally would’ve hit glass, it’s not delay of game. If it went over the imaginary glass, it’s delay of game. Basically, players have to rely on eagle-eyed refs to tell if something would have been a penalty or not. Here’s hoping no one whiffs a puck at either bench tonight.
Dunn and Scandella are flipped tonight, but everything else is status quo. Dunn’s been on a roll since returning from his benching, so being paired with Parayko might get a few more goals out of him.
This is your GameDay Thread. Comment like you’re glad you’re not sitting in glass seats tonight.
Let’s do this. Let’s Go Blues.
