Tonight’s not necessarily a must watch game. It’s more or less a game that has to be played because it’s on the schedule and folks expect it, and that’s fine. Any chance that the Blues can have to tune things up for the playoffs is a game worth playing, and tonight’s their last chance for tweaks.
They don’t know who their opponent is yet, but the postseason begins against either the Colorado Avalanche or the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday. Either team will be a challenge, so winning tonight and ending the year on a strong note could spark the kind of postseason momentum the Blues never found in the bubble. Their 4-0 win against the Wild last night was unexpected; another performance like that and the Blues should be ready for either Colorado or Vegas.
Sammy Blais is back, while Jaden Schwartz and Colton Parayko are taking a break. There won’t be any chance to get Vladimir Tarasenko or Vince Dunn one last game before the postseason.
